Helicopter
For my production of Miss Saigon, I was fortunate to find a theatre within about 100 miles that had previously done the show. They had located and purchased from a military aircraft “graveyard” in Pennsylvania an actual Bell Huey UH-1 helicopter used in the Vietnam War as a medevac unit in the early 1960s. Only the pilot cockpit remained but still made for a very powerful part of the show. The bottom of the fuselage had visible holes from mortar shells; faint red paint from the Red Cross insignia was still visible. I was able to rent this actual historic artifact for our use during Kim’s Nightmare. It was professional rigged and “flown in” via remote control.
