Acting

As a practicing artist as well as a theatre educator, I work hard to balance the professional responsibilities of both, for they strengthen each other – there is no substitute to leverage my current acting and directing work in the teaching studio.

I enjoy discussing my creative process and how I attempt to translate an idea into an artistic vision, and then into something palpable on stage.  My students benefit from explanations of applying theory to practice, including examples of when/how things worked and when/how they did not. In practical terms, this experience helps my students develop and focus their own artistic voice so they are better able to share their own unique perspectives of / experiences in the world via their performances.  I accept each student for who they are and where they are in their life, working hard to assist them in creating their personal performing aesthetic.  My students learn acting is a highly personal undertaking with no singular approach to finding one’s performing truth.
